Requirements of AS-Interface At the lowest control level, sensors, ntactors, motor circuit switches, indicator lamps, pushbuttons etc. which transfer volumes of information in the bit range had to learn to communicate.
The bus systems already in existence were either over dimensioned or simply could not be used for such a task. They used cables that were either too expensive or unsuitable for a direct link to the process (e.g. fibre-optic cable,shielded and non-flexible cable), and the volumes of data transmitted were simply too high. Either the data protocols were non- deterministic or the control electronics used were much too expensive if each binary sensor was to be a bus node and in an automation network there might be any number of them. Over and above that, assembly and installation needed to be as simple as possible, without the need for any special training. The costs for each connection should be low and in keeping with the volume of data to be transferred. In short: AS-Interface had to be able to network binary sensors and actuators and link them to the higher control levels, very simply, inexpensively, and meeting industrial requirements.

Construction
The 3LAO switches are available in size 2 for 25 Amps. and size 6 for 63 Amps. They are made up of uniform switching packets assembled to form a stack. Each packet consists of 2 sets of contacts whose moving contacts
Are operated by moulded plastic cams when the operating shaft is turned. The stacking of similar packets renders it possible to build switches for practically all types of small drives, offering at the same time a uniform appearance. This and their compactness make them ideal for installation on machine tools.

Capacitor Duty Contactors.
3TF3/3RT16 capacitor contactors are used to switch power capacitors that are utilized for reactive current compensation. Special series resistors and auxiliary contacts, integrated in the capacitor contactor, reduce the high inrush current of the capacitor which would otherwise flow. This reduced inrush current guarantees a high contactor and capacitor enhanced life. These contactors are available in sizes S00, S0 and S3 and can generally be equipped with the standard accessories of the basic devices.
Power Contactors for Switching Motors.
With a wide range of power contactors for switching motors, Siemens offers contactors for different applications – up to 250 kW. In sizes S00 to S12, in addition to 3-pole standard contactors, one can opt for vacuum contactors, coupling relays for optimal interfacing with the outputs of controllers, and various different 4-pole power relays and miniature contactors for the performance range up to 4 kW.
Special Contactors for Special Applications.
Single-phase 3TK5* and 3RT14* AC contactors can now be used, for example, for switching heating circuits up to 690 A. The 4-pole 3RT13 contactor is ideal for implementation in changeover circuit with isolation of neutral conductor. The contactor range also includes 3TF3* capacitor duty contactors for reactive current compensation with power capacitors.

TCS Relay
Trip Circuit Supervision Relay – is an electronic circuit based relay which is used to monitor and supervise the integrity of Circuit breakers trip coil and other wiring circuits of low-voltage and medium-voltage network. Trip Circuit supervision relay is connected with a circuit breaker to monitor the trip circuit positions (Open or closed). Trip Circuit Supervision Relay generates a trip circuit failure alarm, either if the trip circuit supply is disconnected or if the trip circuit connection is changed to an open circuit. Trip circuit continuity is measured by supplying the supervision current of 0.7 mA to 1.5 mA and sensing the flow of current with two opto-couplers. The circuit breaker contact indicates the status of relay whether the circuit breaker is in open position or closed position. The front panel of Trip Circuit Supervision Relay comprises of single LED with dual colored to indicate the status of process. In a healthy condition, the Green LED flashes and the output relay reaches the pick-up condition. In the fault condition, the Red LED flashes and the output relay reaches the drop-off condition and operates after a delay of 500 ms.

With its advanced start & stop modes, extensive protections and improved fault diagnostics; the controller has the maximum flexibility to suit any kind of load requirement. The SIKOSTART range of digital controllers utilize 6 thyristors, each phase has two thyristors in antiparallel configuration. By varying the thyristor conduction period, the voltage applied to the motor and hence the motor starting torque, are controlled. Two versions are available viz. Line connection (3-wire system) and Inside Delta connection (6-wire system).

The Siemens 7PU60 20 Timers provide adjustable star time i.e.[(2-20/6-60 sec)/(20-200 sec)] and fixed Star to Delta transfer time (i.e. 50 ms) Timers type 7PU60 20–3N..are provided with 2 time setting ranges. Selection of range is done with Selector Switch, Provided on the front plate of timer. Timer type 7PU60 20–4N.. has one setting range (Selector switch is not functional)
